The Digital Health and Smart Healthcare Hackathon is an international innovation event in digital health, co-organized by:

  • The African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development (CAFRAD)
  • The Moroccan Society of Digital Health (SMSD)
  • The Cité de l’Innovation – Mohammed V University of Rabat
  • The University of Technology of Troyes (UTT)
  • The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat – Student Office
  • The University of Quebec in Outaouais (UQO)

This hackathon is held as part of the HealthTech’26 Joint Events at the Cité de l’Innovation, Mohammed V University of Rabat.

Objective of the Hackathon

The main goal of the hackathon is to foster innovation in digital health through a collaborative dynamic between young talents, experts, industry leaders, and institutions.

Target Audience

  • Students and young professionals in health, engineering, computer science, and design
  • Researchers, PhD candidates, and academic experts
  • Innovators and entrepreneurs with project ideas

Participation Guidelines

  • Teams of 2 to 4 participants
  • One designated coordinator per team
  • Mandatory submission: a PowerPoint presentation plus a 2-minute video pitch

Hackathon Themes

Participants are invited to innovate around the following themes:

  • Artificial intelligence for diagnosis and medical decision-making
  • Medical IoT and connected health devices
  • Telemedicine and telerehabilitation
  • Medical Big Data
  • Medical robotics
  • Genomics, bioinformatics, and personalized medicine
  • Digital mental health
  • eHealth for rural or vulnerable areas
  • Immersive technologies and medical training
  • Digital transformation policies
  • Cybersecurity in healthcare

Selection Criteria

Projects will be evaluated based on:

  • Originality of the idea
  • Medical or social impact and relevance
  • Technical feasibility
  • Quality of the submitted materials
  • Multidisciplinary nature of the team
  • Level of technological innovation

Bootcamp & Mentorship

Pre-selected projects will benefit from a hybrid Bootcamp including:

  • Design Thinking workshops
  • Entrepreneurial coaching
  • Scientific mentorship from leading domain experts

Certified Training

The most promising projects will be awarded a certified training in digital transformation, delivered by a leading company in the digital health sector (to be announced soon).

Awards & Prizes

Winning teams will be honored during the inaugural ceremony of the HealthTech’26 Congress:
“Digital Health and Smart Healthcare.”
Awards will recognize excellence in relevance, technical quality, social impact, and innovation.
Prizes:

  • 1st Prize: 20,000 MAD
  • 2nd Prize: 15,000 MAD
  • 3rd Prize : 10,000 MAD
